Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is a roguelike platformer developed by Dejima. It was already published on Steam in 2021, but got released for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles on the 22nd of June this year. Its publisher is Thunderful Publishing and in it you will step into the shoes of a young rescue officer that is just starting her career.
You will be equipped with an axe and a fire hose that can also be used as a jetpack. Responding to various emergency calls throughout the city will be your task, and saving numerous trapped civilians. All fires are procedurally generated in levels across forests, hotels, trains and apartments.
After arriving on the scene of a fire, you will have mere minutes to save all of the civilians that are trapped in it. On your way you will be chopping through obstacles and extinguishing pyro-monsters, while using your fire hose for larger jumps and reaching higher places to rescue the trapped ones.

Between missions you will hang out at the Firehouse, where you can upgrade your equipment and hire new staff that will help you with your upcoming missions. That will be pretty important, since the starting missions are quite, if not too hard. Upgrading will be of crucial importance for you to have a chance saving the survivors from the blazes.
Game’s art direction is pretty sweet and so are the animations. The story is passable as well, but it could have been better. The down-points are that there are no maps available for the scenes where fires take places. It is pretty hard to get through all the rooms looking for survivors because of that, and it gets quite frustrating.
The other major difficult part of the game is managing the water, which you need to save to manoeuvre through the platforming parts of the levels. Last but not least, the game is quite short so you will get through it really quick.
Firegirl: Hack ‘n Splash Rescue DX is available on Steam and on the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 consoles. It will cost you 17,99 EUR on each of the available platforms.
