Project Warlock II

Project Warlock II is a game that is being developed by Buckshot Software and is published by Retrovibe. It is an Early Access title that is available on Steam since the 10th of June. Inspired by first-person shooters like Quake and Doom 64, it is a retro old school boomer shooter – a sequel to the universally acclaimed Project Warlock that got released on the 6th of December 2018.

The first one in the series received and still receives updates and improvements based on gamers’ feedback, which is why the developers decided that they want to include players in the development process to bring a final product that will be a mix of their own ideas and players’ expectations.

They plan to keep the game in Early Access for up to one year – they will need approximately six months to finish each of the two remaining chapters in the fashion and quality they want. They will also continue to work on the first chapter, which is already in the final play-testing phases, based on the feedback they receive. Nonetheless, the schedule might change over time.

The full game will consist of three single-player chapters, all set in different worlds, each with a different playable Warlock character. Each of the characters will have their own skills, perks, unique weapons and magic skills to unlock. Currently, the game offers a complete first chapter that you play through as Palmer.

Project Warlock II will be priced differently after Early Access, as early adopters who share their feedback are entitled to paying less for it than those, who are fine with waiting until the whole game will be finished. Make sure you grab it for less, as the game is already a treat.

The game picks up after the events of the first game with Palmer, Urd, and Kirsten having their own skills, weapons, and personal reasons to face their old Warlock master. You will be encountering lots of different deadly monsters and powerful bosses waiting for you to engage in an adrenaline fuelled action against them.

Each of the levels will consist of six huge levels that are up to ten times bigger than any level from the original game. They evolved into three-dimensional vertical multi-floored structures, all filled with enemies, obstacles, secrets, Easter eggs and achievements to unlock. Every level can take up to one hour to complete.

As far as weapons go, each of the three characters carries a unique arsenal and magic skills that fit their identities and enable three different play-styles. Available among others are shotguns, machine guns, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, swords and cannons. They can also be upgraded which results to more than twenty weapons for each of the characters.

Every chapter you will engage new types of enemies, from ghoul hordes, imps jumping from behind, knights with rocket launchers, and even pigdemons. They will all use different attack styles trying to overcome you. Project Warlock II also features quick-saves, manual saves and autosaves, which the first game did not include.

Project Warlock II is available on Steam Early Access for 14,39 EUR during the Steam’s Summer Sale which will end on the 7th of July. After that the game will cost 15,99 EUR.
